You can reduce waste and conserve drinking water by using a backyard composter and installing a rain barrel for watering gardens. These can be purchased at Burnaby’s Yard Waste Depot.

Composters

Yard and garden trimmings, along with fruit and vegetable peelings, can be composted at home in your own backyard. You'll make your own rich soil amendment, which is great for gardening. Composters are available from the Yard Waste Depot for $30 each (includes HST). Download a copy of Here’s the Dirt: Guide to Backyard Composting

Rain Barrels

With lawn sprinkling restrictions in effect from June 1 to September 30, give yourself greater watering flexibility and give your plants the gift of warm, un-chlorinated and oxygen-rich water. Purchase a City of Burnaby Rain Barrel today, while quantities last. Each rain barrel holds up to 341 litres of water, and is specially priced at $70.00 (including HST)
