Burnaby welcomes performers and community groups to participate in cultural events

Last updated: March 6, 2024

The City of Burnaby is gearing up to host a variety of free community cultural events in 2024 and is actively seeking performers and community groups to participate.

“Burnaby consistently delivers accessible, safe and exciting cultural events” said Emmaline Hill, Director of Culture. “Showcasing the talent and creativity of local artists and performers makes our events memorable for residents.”

City-produced events occur year-round within our community. These unique, diverse and free gatherings play a vital role in establishing Burnaby as a world-class city, contributing to vibrant parks, streets and neighbourhoods. Events include Streetfest on Central (Canada Day), Summer Stages, Central Spark and more.

We are actively seeking a diverse range of performers, including emerging and mid-career artists, as well as artist teams and collectives, to infuse excitement and energy into our family-friendly signature events and festivals throughout the year. We welcome artists to engage with the thousands of families, friends, neighbours, and visitors in attendance at our events. Selected artists will receive compensation in accordance to market rates and industry scales for professional artists. We also extend an invitation to community groups, including businesses, non-profit organizations, and charities, to showcase their valuable contributions and connect with our community. Our preference is for groups who offer engaging and interactive family-friendly activities.

We look forward to welcoming thousands of residents and visitors to our 2024 events and are excited to feature both new and returning artists and community groups.
