Council meets regularly to debate and decide on issues that concern you. These meetings also offer residents a chance to hear all the arguments and understand the reason behind council's decisions.
Meetings are held at Burnaby City Hall twice a month on Monday evenings at 5 pm. Please check the calendar to confirm date and location details.

May 13 meeting highlights
Burnaby Responsible Consumption of Alcohol in Parks Bylaw 2024
City Council adopted the bylaw which will permit the consumption of alcohol in all parks across Burnaby. The bylaw also outlines where drinking is not permitted – such as in playgrounds, on sport fields and at spray parks. Further information will be provided to the community at Burnaby.ca prior to the bylaw taking effect on June 24, 2024.
Response Letter from The Honourable Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Housing
As an item added to the Council agenda, a letter from the Minister of Housing was received. In response to a letter from Mayor Hurley requesting the Brentwood Park neighbourhood be exempt from Provincial Transit Oriented Areas designation regulations, Minister Kahlon’s response letter states that, “the Province is not contemplating exemptions to the regulations for specific neighbourhoods.”
