Construction activity will be allowed to proceed with normal weekday hours on Friday, September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Although the City is observing the day as if it were a statutory holiday, typical statutory holiday-related Noise Bylaw restrictions will not apply. As a result, construction will be allowed to proceed like a typical weekday (i.e., Monday-Friday, 7 am-8 pm).
In 2021, the Government of Canada made this day a federal statutory holiday for federally regulated workers in the public and private sectors. In the future if the province of B.C. chooses to observe this day as a permanent statutory holiday, statutory holiday-related noise bylaw restrictions will apply.
