Our Fair Wage Policy applies to all contractors and sub-contractors undertaking construction work for the City of Burnaby. Per the policy, employers must pay a minimum fair wage to employees working on City construction contracts.
The policy demonstrates our commitment to protecting workers and ensures that no contractor or sub-contractor working for the City gets an unfair advantage over other construction employers by paying lower than prescribed hourly wages.
Fair Wage Policy applies to
- construction projects with a value of $250,000 or higher
- businesses in industrial, commercial and institutional, sewers, water mains, roads and heavy engineering sectors
