From pocket-sized community green spaces to vast landscapes with rolling grasslands, dense forest, secret ravines, and waterfront beaches and trails. With so much to explore and enjoy, you'll fall in love with our parks.
Small groups
Picnic tables for small groups are available at parks across the city on a first-come basis. You don't need to book stand-alone picnic tables in advance. Just make sure you get there ahead of time to secure your favourite spot.
Corporate
Looking for the perfect venue for a company picnic? We have some great picnic areas that will help you and your staff have a wonderful time.
Reserving a designated picnic area for a large group
Want to reserve a site for a special event or occasion? Apply for a permit to use any of the City's charming designated picnic spots. Choose between the following locations:
- located along the Fraser River at the foot of Byrne Rd (Map)
- available from May-September
- 2 areas to accommodate 200 people each
- covered picnic shelters, washrooms, water, two outdoor volleyball courts, trails, and playgrounds
- 14 picnic tables at each site. You will have to manage any additional tables and chairs you may need
- this site has no power or vehicle access
- explore Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park
- located in north Burnaby (Map)
- available from May-September
- 2 areas to accommodate 200 people each
- covered shelters, washrooms, water, bocce courts, lawn bowling, tennis courts, trails, playground, running track, and spray pool (summer only)
- 33 picnic tables (site#1 - 15; site#2 - 18)
- if you need power and vehicle access for drop off, please inform the parks administration office while booking
- explore Confederation Park
- located west of Metrotown area (Map)
- 40 picnic tables (22 in site#1 and 18 in site#2)
- available from May-September
- 2 areas to accommodate 300 people total (site#1 - 200 and site#2 - 100)
- washrooms, water, outdoor pool, jogging trails, fitness circuit, playground, sand volleyball court, pitch & putt golf course and tennis courts
- this site has no power or vehicle access

Application form
Book your picnic spot! Please submit a completed picnic application form to [email protected]. If your application is accepted, you will have to pay the full fee after receiving the contract to confirm your booking. We start accepting picnic applications for the following year on February 1 every year.
Fees
The fee is location-based and changes every year. If you require any additional equipment, materials, or supervision, or if there's accidental damage to the facility or equipment, you may be charged extra.
Liability insurance
Commercial general liability insurance is required to rent any City facility- please check with the facility for specific requirements. You may purchase insurance through an independent broker of your choice, or receive a quote through AON Insurance.

Alcohol and drugs
Drugs aren't allowed anywhere on park property. Alcohol can only be consumed responsibly in permitted areas of Burnaby parks or in pre-approved, designated beer gardens.
Smoking cigarettes, tobacco, cannabis, e-cigarettes and vapes are not permitted in public parks.
Music
You will need approval to play music at a loud volume.
Food concessions
If you wish to operate food concessions, mention that in your application form. You will also need to show approval or a health operating permit from Fraser Health (Burnaby office) before the event.
Special equipment
Any special equipment set-up, such as tents, stages, bouncy castles, dunk tanks, etc., will require approval as well.

You'll receive a copy of our outdoor guidelines with your contract, including information on cancelling or rescheduling your booking.
