Celebrate in your community with a festival
Does your not-for-profit organization need a grant to stage an event or festival? Festivals Burnaby provides funding to eligible organizations in Burnaby to support existing and new events, festivals and projects in the community. For more details of the program, see program resources below or get in touch with the Grant Program Administrator.
A festival is a reoccurring, publicly accessible special event with multiple components organized around a cultural focus having city-wide or regional appeal and accessible to Burnaby residents and visitors. To be eligible, applicants must be a registered non-profit or a collaboration that includes a non-profit as the lead applicant.
Organizations applying for grants that fall outside of the Festivals Burnaby Grant Program should check out the Community Grants program for further information or pursue other funding sources such as foundations, service clubs and businesses.

Application deadlines
Small scale and new
Applications are received throughout the year (except July and August and submitted at minimum 3 months before the special event date)
Medium and large scale
Two deadlines annually:
- February 15, 3 pm for festivals taking place July to December of the current year.
- Note: The deadline for submissions of grant applications in this transition period has been extended to March 4, 2024.
- September 10, 3 pm for festivals taking place January to June of the following year.
Please submit your application form along with support material prior to deadlines. No exceptions are made for late applications. Please note that if the deadline falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, applications and any support material may be delivered or postmarked on the next business day.
Festivals Burnaby Logo
Organizations receiving funding from the Burnaby Festivals Grant Program must acknowledge the City’s financial support in all promotional materials including brochures, posters, advertisement, websites, news releases, signs, etc. with the Festivals Burnaby Grant Program logo.
