Born and raised in Burnaby, I’m honoured to serve on the council, where I’m dedicated to working for fairness and equity for all residents. I’m committed to fighting for people’s rights, which is what I’ll continue to do for our beloved city and the people who live here. In addition to my work with the council, I’m the chair of the City’s Environment Committee, and also represent our city on the Board of Directors of E-Comm and the Metro Vancouver Regional District Water Committee. Affordable housing is one of my top priorities. My other priorities include creating more quality child care for families and helping the most vulnerable in our community, including seniors and the homeless.
My entire adult life, I have been committed to fighting for people’s rights. This is what I will continue to do for our beloved city and the people who live here.
I was born and raised in Burnaby. Before being elected to City Council, I coached youth soccer, baseball and lacrosse while raising three children with my wife of more than 30 years. I am also an award-winning musician, a founding member and leader of world-renowned rock band D.O.A., and an inductee into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame.
I am truly honoured to serve on City Council, where I am committed to working for fairness and equity for all residents. Throughout my lifetime, I have organized and performed at more than 300 benefits and rallies for important causes such as women’s rights, environmental issues, and union rights, as well as events against war and racism. More recently, I’m particularly proud of the Harmony For All charity that I started with the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society. Donations collected through this initiative are getting musical instruments into the hands of children in our school system who may not otherwise be able to afford them.
In addition to my work with City Council, I am the chair of the City’s Environment Committee, and also represent our city on the Board of Directors of E-Comm and the Metro Vancouver Regional District Water Committee.
Affordable housing is one of my top priorities while serving on City Council. Other important priorities include creating more quality child care for families and helping the most vulnerable in our community, including seniors and people who are homeless.
I am also deeply committed to ensuring our city achieves its goal to become carbon neutral by 2050. I am a strong advocate for ensuring Burnaby becomes a greener and more sustainable community where active forms of transportation like walking and cycling are convenient, safe, and enjoyable.
