City of Burnaby provides residency opportunities for emerging and established artists.
Professional artists can immerse themselves in the tranquil and inspiring natural setting of Deer Lake Park, where they have the opportunity to create in two beautifully restored heritage homes as well as facilities at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Burnaby Art Gallery, as part of the City of Burnaby’s Deer Lake Artist Residencies program.
Artists from all disciplines are invited to apply online for this program. Residencies, typically ranging from 2 to 6 weeks, may include housing and/or studio use. The deadline to apply is April 8, 2024 at 5 pm (PST).
The intention of these residencies is to provide time and space for professional artists with emerging and established practices to create new work. Resident artists may work with the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Burnaby Art Gallery staff to support artist-led community engagement projects aligned with the requirement of each residency. Alongside housing, resident artists will have access to rehearsal spaces and studios as well as other resources to support their creative endeavours.
Application Deadline: April 8, 2024 (covering residency requests between March 1, 2025 to December 10, 2025)
