The City of Burnaby has won the prestigious “triple crown” of awards from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), recognizing the City’s exceptional financial reporting practices.

The City of Burnaby’s Finance Department was recognized with the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to our outstanding Finance team in Burnaby,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “They have shown exceptional skill and dedication in managing the City’s financial resources and reporting them in a clear and transparent way. It is an honour to receive these awards from the GFOA and to be recognized as a leader in municipal finance.”

The Government Finance Officers Association was founded in 1906 and represents more than 20,000 public finance officials throughout Canada and the United States at the local, provincial/state and federal level.

These prestigious awards reflect the commitment from Burnaby’s Finance Department to help residents understand how the City’s budgets and investments are managed.
