City seeks community input on Burnaby Poverty Reduction Strategy

Last updated: September 20, 2024

The City of Burnaby, in partnership with Burnaby Neighbourhood House and Burnaby Family Life, is inviting residents to share their experiences and ideas to help shape the Burnaby Poverty Reduction Strategy. With over 33,000 residents struggling to cover everyday expenses such as housing, food, transportation and child care, this initiative aims to provide better understanding, coordination and support to Burnaby residents.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with lived/living experience of poverty. Please share your challenges and ideas on how to make things better in our community. Participate in our survey at: Burnaby.ca/PovertyReduction.

The survey is open until October 25, 2024.

The project is supported by the Poverty Reduction Advisory Committee, consisting of the City and Burnaby’s community partners. For reference, low income (after-tax) for one person may be $20,590 or less per year; for a family of four people, it may be less than $48,553. This project supports the Province’s broader poverty reduction strategy, TogetherBC.
