Miles Ritchie appointed Fire Chief for the City of Burnaby

The City of Burnaby has appointed Miles Ritchie as the new Fire Chief for the Burnaby Fire Department.

“Miles brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served with the Burnaby Fire Department for more than 30 years,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “Miles understands the unique needs of our community, and we are excited to welcome him aboard in this new role.”

Ritchie began his firefighting career with the Burnaby Fire Department in 1993. He was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 2011, Fire Captain in 2016 and he spent 2 years as the Training Captain before taking on the role of a Deputy Fire Chief (DFC) in September of 2020, where his primarily role has been as the DFC of Administration.

Ritchie will begin his duties effective October 7, 2024.
