The Housing Choices program launched in 2022 to introduce more housing variety to Burnaby’s neighbourhoods. We completed the first phase of this work in September 2023, when laneway homes and suites in semi-detached homes were introduced in Burnaby. The program concluded in November 2023, when the province passed housing legislation that requires all municipalities in BC to permit higher densities on residential properties.
