We're developing a long-range plan to shape the future of Parks, Recreation and Culture for the next 25 years. It will guide key decisions on delivering core services and planning new facilities and infrastructure. It will also help us meet the needs of the community now and in the future.
This is a community-led plan, with opportunities for Council, residents, community groups, and others to give input along the way. Focusing on sustainability, equity and accessibility, it makes sure all community members have access to parks, recreation and cultural opportunities.
This plan helps Burnaby grow and improve by keeping up with new trends, working together across different teams, and checking our progress. It aims to meet the needs of our diverse and growing community, making sure everyone has a great experience.
What's happening now?
We’re currently evaluating our programs, services and facilities to understand what we’re doing well and where we can improve. This includes identifying any gaps and finding ways to better serve the community.
In summer 2025, we'll be asking the community for feedback on how we're doing and how we can improve.
The input we gather in the first 2 phases will help us build a strong, informed basis for drafting the plan, ensuring our recommendations align with community expectations and Council priorities.
