The Marriage of Figaro by W.A. Mozart. What’s a fellow to do? Your lecherous boss, the Count, now has his eye on your fiancée, Susanna, the Countess’ maid; and the Countess and Susanna are scheming to outsmart the Count and bring him to his knees. With everyone running around in disguise, hiding in bushes, closets and behind curtains; add a young lad who falls in love at a moment’s notice; a madcap array of unknown family members, aristocrats, gardeners, teachers and villagers and we have one of the most outrageous scenarios ever written for opera. From the opening notes, Mozart’s masterpiece is filled with lively characters meeting life’s unexpected twists and challenges with humour, grace and poignancy, all the while singing some of the most glorious music ever written.
Stage Director, Richard Berg, and Music Director Richard Epp will work their magic on “Le Nozze di Figaro” (The Marriage of Figaro) together with the best of B.C.’s young professional opera singers and Burnaby Lyric Opera’s production team. This is a must see performance at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
