Apply for and manage your permits
Everything you need to know to apply for and manage electrical, fire sprinkler, plumbing, gas and heating permits related to single and two family homes. All permits can be applied for in person, and electrical, gas and plumbing permits can also be applied for online. Our new online My Permits Portal enables you to submit some permit applications electronically, book inspections online and pay your invoiced fees by credit card online at invoices.burnaby.ca. We are working to add all trade permits online this year.
Permits for single- and two-family dwellings
Any electrical work/installations for single and two family dwellings require an Electrical Permit Application. This includes electrical installations for single and two family dwellings, temporary saw service, undergrounding, and low voltage installations. Download the application form or apply online.

Installing, modifying or upgrading any part of a gas system in single and two family dwellings requires a Gas Permit. Download the appropriate application forms below or apply online for permits for complete installations, piping, repair and replacements, and venting and hook-ups.
Permits for gas installation of over 409,000 BTU can be obtained from the Provincial Safety Authority.
