Camps and playgrounds
Our Parks, Recreation & Culture Department offers plenty of fun and exciting summer volunteer opportunities for Burnaby youth 14 years and older.
Aquatic services
We offer volunteer opportunities to assist instructors with swimming lessons, and staff with in-service training and special events and programs.
Recreation: Community events
Have fun while giving back by volunteering at community events hosted by the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department throughout the year. Events include Girolino, Willingdon Fair, Bonsor Boo, plus many more.
Citizen support services
Citizen Support Services is looking for savvy shoppers to shop for housebound seniors’ weekly groceries. Make a difference by helping seniors remain independent. There’re also opportunities as a shopping buddy, providing a daily phone call or delivering their groceries.
Burnaby Art Gallery (BAG)
Join the gallery as a volunteer and get involved in a variety of areas including art classes, gallery tours, special events, community art programs, opening receptions and exhibition preparation.
Burnaby Village Museum (BVM)
Our volunteers work in many areas–from special events to school programs, from costuming to collections research.
Shadbolt Centre for the Arts
Volunteer in fine arts and music programs, day camps or at festivals and special events.

Our access & adapted activities team are always looking for some helping hands. Volunteering with our adapted activities provides our communities with quality experiences in an inclusive, enriching environment while having the most fun.

Arena services
We offer volunteer opportunities on and off the ice to assist instructors with skating lessons, special events and programs at Bill Copeland Sports Centre and Kensington Complex.

Burnaby Citizen’s Crime Watch
Volunteers help promote safety and crime prevention. Your role could include observing and reporting suspicious activity in your neighbourhood and assisting at community events.
RCMP Community Police Offices
Volunteer with our Community Police Offices and help to keep our community safe. We have opportunities for foot patrols, bike patrols, cell watch, speed watch, community events and lots more.

Be a part of planting one of Burnaby’s 40+ iconic Eco-sculptures, living sculptures featured in parks throughout the spring, winter and holiday seasons, or be a part of other environmental opportunities like mason bee stewardship and pollinator planting.
