Designated Field Hockey Turf Update

City Council directed staff to replace Field #2 at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West with a hybrid soccer/field hockey turf field. The new, upgraded hybrid turf field will feature field hockey lines, making it suitable for community and school-level field hockey competitions.

Councillors Dhaliwal, Gu, Santiago, Tetrault, Wang - Proposed Motion: Increasing Preparedness and Resiliency in the OCP

City Council directed staff to identify areas of the city that are at high risk of flooding and wildfire over the next 25 years, and to use this information to designate appropriate land uses in the Official Community Plan to prevent the risk to people and property. Council also directed staff to embed risk mitigation strategies in areas where people already live in high-risk areas, and to report back to Council with additional strategies to improve the City’s resilience and preparedness for emergency situations.
