We’re excited to announce that our new residential building permit process is now live! We’ve revised the permit process for single- and two-family dwellings to improve processing times and create a faster, simpler and better experience for applicants through the Development Approval Process (DAP) Project.
As part of the new process, experts from different City departments are involved at the right times to support applicants and ensure applications are processed more efficiently and accurately.
We’ve made 2 key changes to the process:
- a new Engineering Department pre-application stage to ensure early identification of potential issues or challenges
- a new Application Completeness Checklist and user-friendly guidelines to help applicants make sure their applications are complete
The Application Completeness Checklist provides applicants with clear information about what is required before the City accepts the application. This will help to reduce delays and the number of revisions required during detailed review and help to standardize communication with applicants.
We understand this may be a big change for some of our applicants. Our goal is to create a fair, efficient and transparent process that ultimately reduces application processing times. We believe these changes will lead to the best possible service.
