Burnaby celebrates official opening of new Fire Station 4

Hundreds of Burnaby residents came together to celebrate the official opening of Burnaby’s newest fire station on Greystone Drive.

Over 800 people attended the event on July 20, which featured speeches by Mayor Mike Hurley, Fire Chief Chris Bowcock and Elder Carleen Thomas of səlilwətaɬ Tsleil-Wauthuth Nation. The event also featured family-fun activities and a BBQ hosted by the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society.

The completion of Fire Station 4 represents a substantial upgrade to public safety in the Burnaby Mountain area. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the unique needs of this neighbourhood and is also equipped with specialized wildfire firefighting equipment and personnel. Fire Station 4 replaces the former Duthie Avenue fire station which was built in 1956.
