The City of Burnaby is thrilled to announce the grand opening of Fire Station 8 on Burnaby Mountain, a state-of-the-art facility that enhances safety and emergency response for our growing community.

Join us on Saturday April 26 for the opening celebration where you’ll meet the local firefighters who are committed to keeping Burnaby safe and take part in family-friendly community games and activities.

"The opening of Fire Station 8 is a proud moment for our city, showcasing our ongoing dedication to safety, sustainability and community care,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “This facility strengthens our ability to respond to emergencies and reflects our vision for a thriving, forward-thinking Burnaby. We are excited to share this milestone with our residents and honour the firefighters who serve our community."

“SFU is grateful for the City of Burnaby’s ongoing collaboration and commitment to the safety of students, faculty, staff and UniverCity residents,” said SFU President Joy Johnson. “Fire Station 8 is an exciting addition to the emergency response support on Burnaby Mountain, and we look forward to celebrating the opening with the community.”

Fire Station 8 is a beacon of innovation and sustainability. With special firefighting equipment for the forest setting, and built with energy-efficient practices, the station is tailored to serve the unique needs of Burnaby Mountain and surrounding areas.
