Swimming at Bonsor Recreation Complex

If you enjoy swimming or want to learn how, check the schedule to see where and when you can swim laps, try an aquafit class, play in the pool or relax in the whirlpool.

Staff training
Bonsor pool will have reduced lap swim space on Tuesday, November 26 from 8 pm-10 pm due to staff training. The pool will be fully closed for staff training on the following dates:

  • Friday, December 13 from 5 pm-9 pm
  • Saturday, December 14 from 9 am-5 pm
  • Friday, December 20 from 5 pm-9 pm

Washroom renovation
Please excuse the mess! We’ll be renovating the washrooms on the main floor starting on October 28, anticipated to complete in February 2025. Please use washrooms on the lower and upper floors in the meantime

Swim schedule

  • Schedules subject to change.
  • Reserve your aquafit session. Burnaby residents can reserve spots online or by phone 2 days in advance starting at 11 am. Non-Burnaby residents can make reservations 1 day in advance starting at 11 am. No waitlists are available. Pay when you arrive. Drop-ins are welcome (subject to space).
  • Please arrive early and stay until the end of class to ensure safety and enjoyment for everyone. Participants arriving 5 minutes after class start time will not be admitted.
  • No public access available to the main pool during swimming lessons.
  • Diving board open during Family and Public swims.
  • Women & Girls Only Swim and Swim Lessons are not offered on statutory holidays.
  • Childminding services available

  • Aquafit Classes (14 years +)
    See schedule for class times. Aquafit classes are included with your pool admission and are open to all.
  • Family Swim (Children with guardians 16 years and older)
    Adults and kids swim together.
  • Lap Swim (8 years and older)
    All lanes are available for length swimming unless otherwise noted. 
  • Leisure Only Swim (All ages)
    Enjoy the leisure pool only, no access to the main pool, no lap lanes available.
  • Loonie Swim (All ages)
    Swim, whirl, sauna and steam for only a dollar!
  • Parent & Child Leisure Swim (Adults with children 7 years and under)
    Parent and child can come and use the tot pool only.
  • Public Swim (All ages)
    Everyone welcome! Call ahead for group bookings.
  • Sauna & Whirlpool (adults only)
    Enjoy the sauna and whirlpool only. 
  • Women & Girls Only Swim 
    A private and inviting environment for women and girls of all ages and swim abilities. This program gives females full access to our 25m main pool, leisure pool, whirlpool and sauna.

Children's Admission Policy 

Children 7 years of age and younger and less than 122 centimetres (48 inches) tall, must be accompanied in the water by a person 16 years of age or older and be within arm's reach of that person at all times. The ratio of children to accompanying persons must be no greater than 3 to 1.
